OutPost Arts
OutPost Arts were commissioned by Langholm Academy to work with a group of six S2-S6 students to create a large-scale exterior play-space mural for local childcare provider Langholm Playcare.
The project connected students with their community in new ways, creating opportunities for the young people to take leadership roles, learn new transferable skills including project management, communication, budgeting, research, design and project delivery.
Supported by OutPost Arts Creative Director, the group worked with Playcare's staff and children to conceive of, plan and present a suitable design with the theme of 'local nature with an Alice in Wonderland twist'. OutPost Arts then facilitated weekly painting sessions at Langholm Academy to create the final panels which were installed as part of an upgrade in Playcare's outdoor waterside playspace facility.
